Pamela McCracken is a retired music educator. She taught all levels of instrumental music for 36 years in Baltimore County Public Schools, including 21 years at Kenwood High school. Since retiring, Pam has served as an adjudicator for band/orchestra festivals and solo and ensemble festivals across the state of Maryland. She has served as guest conductor for middle and high school all-county bands as well as the junior high all-state band conductor. In addition to her conductor/player position with MRCB, Pam is the choir/music director at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Bowley’s Quarters.
Sue Wilson, a native of Pennsylvania, is a retired Baltimore County music teacher. She has taught vocal and instrumental music in elementary and middle schools, served as the instrumental specialist for the county music office, and completed her 43-year career in education as the music chair/band director at Ridgely Middle School. Her middle school ensembles have performed at numerous clinics and conferences, in the local community and in eastern and western Europe. She established a musical exchange program with schools in Wales, Scotland, and Ukraine and was recognized by the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce for promoting global understanding through music. Currently, she is a co-conductor of the MRCB and lives with her husband Jim, and their cats, Felix and Oscar.
Mike Powis, Jr. is a teacher in Baltimore County Public School system. He serves as department chair of fine arts and teaches band and orchestra at Sparrows Point Middle School. A graduate of Kenwood High School, Mike studied Music Education at CCBC and Towson University. He has a Masters Degree in Educational Technology.
Conductor Emeritus
Ray Reiner is a retired music educator. He taught instrumental music for 30 years in Baltimore County. Ray was a member of the summer staff that taught the Maryland State Board of Education’s gifted and talented program at Goucher College. He started with MRCB playing trumpet and euphonium and finished out his service with the band playing trombone. When the band found itself suddenly without a conductor, Ray accepted the position and remained conductor until he made the decision to step down in 2018.
